Class:  Students will continue to learn about the hero's journey and the archetype of the hero.

Homework:   Write  your Greek God character sketch and post it to the Collaboratory by Monday, 12/6.  Have your parent/guardian activate their Edline account and attach an email address to it by Friday, 7 pm to earn extra credit for your grade.

 

Class:  Students will use the postcards they've been sent in division to build their prior knowledge of The Odyssey.  Students will receive their copies of The Odyssey today and should bring them to class daily starting Monday.

Class:  Students will work in groups on a timeline puzzle of events from the Iliad and Odyssey to continue to build their prior knowledge.  Students should use their postcards, history notes, clues in the event cards, and other knowledge to assemble the timeline.

Homework:  Work on independent reading.

 

Class:  Students will take notes on the events from the Iliad and Odyssey to continue to build their prior knowledge and see the completed timeline from yesterday.  Then students will begin to read The Odyssey, book 9.

Homework:  Complete questions 1-4 on the Book 9 POV guide for The Odyssey.

Class:  Students will work in groups on the Polyphemus questions from the Book 9 POV guide.  Then, using information from Book 10, students will begin to develop a postcard from the characters of either Odysseus or Circe to a selected audience.
