1. Read and re-read and re-read the poem.
2. Color mark the poem.  Label appropriately.
3. ON A SEPARATE PIECE OF PAPER, write out a thesis statement for this poem.  This must explicitly include a theme and author’s judgment of that theme.
4. Under your thesis statement, list 3 IMPORTANT techniques used in the poem.  EXPLAIN why these techniques work to support your thesis.  ONE of these techniques should not be a marked pattern, but some other dominant technique.
