Checklist for Tone Exercise #3

Students from 4th and 6th period looked at the directions for the assignment and came up with a checklist (similar to the one below) that they could use to evaluate their peers' work on Tone Exercise #3.  The list below merges the ideas from both classes.

Overall, does the student...

bullet choose and write about two passages?
bullet label his/her responses according to which passages were picked?
bullet write in complete sentences?
bullet use language appropriate for the assignment (word choices, grammar, punctuation, etc.)?

For each passage, does the student...

bullet choose an appropriate tone word to describe the passage?
bullet use three (3) words/phrases from the passage that help show the tone?
bullet EXPLAIN each word/phrase (including talking about associations and connotations) and show why the chosen tone is appropriate?
