Since this is only a three character play, you'd think the purpose of each character would be obvious.  Yet perhaps there is a "third wheel" in this play, so to speak.  Ponder on the character of Willie in "Master Harold" ...and the Boys.  What function does he serve within the play?  What specifically does Fugard do (in his portrayal, for example) in order to accomplish this function?
