BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIREMENT #1 IS TO NOT CHEAT ON THE TIME FACTORS.
GIVE YOURSELF ONE HOUR TO PREP YOUR PASSAGE. GIVE YOURSELF 2 HOURS TO WRITE
YOUR COMMENTARY. IF YOU DON’T FINISH, YOU DON’T FINISH.

Make a copy of the passage you select (once you’re given the
ok to go ahead with it). Number the lines.
·
You have only ONE hour to prep your passage for writing. This
can/should include color-marking, generating a thesis, and outlining your
ideas. You must turn in your copy of the passage and any notes you make
prior to writing as part of this assignment.

Your paper must be written in 2 hours. No more. I highly
recommend following “How to Build a Commentary” as a means toward organizing
your essay.
·
You can either handwrite or type your paper. However, you
should not handwrite your paper first, then type it. Again, you only get 2
hours.
·
For the purposes of this commentary, you don’t need a title.
However, you do need a heading, and you should be citing line numbers for
your textual evidence. Build in time to PROOFREAD.
·
You must turn in 2 copies of your paper, including your marked
passage and pre-writing notes for both copies of your paper. You
may want to make a 3rd copy for yourself as a backup.
·
This assignment is due next week. I recommend doing it
while you have time this weekend. However, you have until 4 pm Friday,
2/20, at the latest, to turn it in. |
