Journal E: Holden's Alienation
Complete this journal during or after your reading of the novel.

Consider the following statement:

Holden Caulfield and John Savage are essentially in the exact same position as characters: both are caught between two worlds without belonging anywhere. Additionally, both characters are essentially responsible for their own alienation.

In ¾ page or more, respond to that statement. Do you agree or disagree with it? If you agree, between what “worlds” is Holden caught? If you disagree, why do you disagree? Use evidence from the book to support your ideas. Make sure to respond to ALL the ideas in the thesis statement.
