BLUE GROUP / GREEN GROUP / PINK GROUP
Task
One, due by the end of class Thursday—Follow directions below for your
group’s MINOR character.
- Each person
individually in the group should browse through their own copy of the book
looking for key passages about your group’s character. On a piece of
paper, quickly jot down your character’s name, your name, and a list of 4
pages from different parts of the book where your character is featured
(a.k.a. the pages you write down should contain moments where we learn a
lot about your character).
- Then, each person
must share their page numbers with the passages found (passage = a
paragraph to about a page) that reveal important information about your
character. As a group, discuss which passages do the most to portray your
character, including how other characters see him/her.
- Compile a NEW list
of the 5 BEST key passages* found by your group. Only include the best
parts of the book that help you understand how your character is
portrayed. Keep in mind the following: None of the characters are
flat, simple characters. All have their complications. Your list
of passages should cover the range of your character’s complexities.
Don’t choose passages that keep showing the same things over and over
again.
- *Write your new list
as follows:
- Write your
character’s name in BIG letters across the top of the paper.
- Give the page
number(s) where you found the passage.
- Summarize in one
or two sentences what is happening in this passage.
- All group members
must turn in their individual lists to Ms. Spachman as well as the one
copy of the group’s “BEST KEY PASSAGES” list.
- When done with this,
go on to Task Two!
Task
Two, due by the end of class Friday—For EACH of the key passages your
group selected, pick 2-3 different words from the Human Types Vocabulary
list that best communicate who your character is in each passage. By the
time you are done, you should have a minimum of 10 different words that
you can use to describe your character. Remember:
Your list should cover the range of your
character’s complexities.
